Halloween - Shrunken Head in Jar
Halloween - Shrunken Head in Jar
Sculpted head made from toilet paper.
Black and orange Halloween pine cones covered with cotton ball spider webs along with a shrunken head in a jar.
What you will need for this project:
Toilet paper
Bowl of water
Poster paints
Paint brushes or cotton swabs
Toothpicks
Cotton ball
Clear, empty jar or container
Glue or glue gun
Gather some toilet paper. Scrunch it into a ball and get it wet. Squeeze out excess water.
Pinch and pull the wet, balled toilet paper here and there to make ears, a nose, cheeks, mouth and brows.
When you get it shaped like a human looking head let it dry.
I mixed my dollar store poster paints to make a tan skin tone. I mixed yellow and red to make orange then added bits of white and black to get a tan tone.
Then I painted the dried toilet paper head. I didn't over soak it in paint so the dried, balled up toilet paper took the paint well.
I use dollar store cotton swabs to paint with. They fall apart quickly but for small craft painting jobs I find it easier to use both ends of the swab and then just dispose of it when done. No clean up of brushes.
When the paint dries you can see that toilet paper head looks like an really old man or woman.
I then used toothpicks to apply black poster paint for eyebrows, the outline of eyes and a mouth stitched shut.
I filled in the eyes with white poster paint. Again using toothpicks to apply the paint. When that was dry I painted black pupils.
I took a cotton ball and gently pulled it apart and then cut off some of it to use as white hair.
I shaped the cotton hair on the head and then glued it on with dollar store glue.
I took an old, empty, plastic, dollar store, poster paint container and put the head inside.
From my computer I printed out "Abbie Normal" in a Halloween font on a piece of paper. Then I cut the paper down to size and glued the "Abbie Normal" to the outside of the container.
And for those that don't know, "Abby Normal" is an old joke from the movie "Young Frankenstein".
And that's how you make a shrunken head from toilet paper!
