How To Make A Halloween Tombstone
Halloween Tombstone
Craft Project - Told Ya I Was Sick
What you will need for this project:
Styrofoam scraps
Taupe paint
Gray paint
White paint
Blue poster paint
Paint brushes
Glue
Cotton ball
Optional - Plasti-Kote Scratch Color - Black
You need two pieces of Styrofoam. Jagged edges are great since the tombstone is suppose to be aged and ragged. One piece is the tomb the other is the base.
Paint the Styrofoam with the taupe paint. Do not color it in solid paint but rather leave some areas with a lighter covering, randomly as pictured above.
Pant the gray paint the same way.
Add some water to the blue poster paint and paint random areas of the Styrofoam pieces. The watery poster paint goes on easier and lets the other colors show through for a lot of contrast and a stone look. Let dry.
The Plasti-Kote Car Scratch dissolves Styrofoam everywhere it touches. So I used it for the lettering. If you don't have the Plasti-Kote just paint your letters on with black or white paint.
Chiseled look from the dissolved Styrofoam.
I used white poster paint over the indented letters so that the lettering could be seen.
Glue the tomb to the base so that it stands up. Let dry.
I glued a cardboard bat to the top of the tombstone and at the opposite side on the base.
My base Styrofoam was cracked but that only adds to the aged, spooky look.
Add some cotton ball cobwebs.
And that's it! The tombstone looks like aged stone.
